The preform is then inserted in the mold, air will be vacuumed out of the preform and heat applied to the rim
-
The rim is now formed and rests of resin are cleaned off
-
Drilling is performed in two steps, allowing room for the nipple (outside hole) and spoke (inside hole) to enter
-
The rim is wet-sanded to prepare the surface to apply the finish and decals (we aim at having rims in stock up until this point in production, so when there is an order we proceed straight to painting and assembly)
-
Decals are applied and baked for a short period of time, then clear-coat is applied to the decals only (not the brake tracks) to protect them
-
-
Spokes are inserted in the hubs
-
They are then inserted in the wheel and attached to the nipples half way
-
Lateral and radial movement is taken into account while balancing the tension on the spokes, this is called 'truing' the wheel (no side to side, up and down movement)
-
The complete wheel is finally protected with airbags and shapes of cardboard, packaged and shipped to Auckland
